Take it with you: print your ballot, or save it as a PDF on your phone, and bring it when you vote. You can use it in the voting booth. Keep it to yourself and take it home after.
Tue., Oct. 13 is the last day to register or update your address ahead of time (online until 11:59 p.m.). Miss it and you can still register at the polls, but it takes longer and you'll need proof of where you live. If you haven't voted in four years, or you moved or changed your name, check now.

Minnesota doesn't ask registered voters for ID or any other documents, early or on Election Day. Registering at the polls? Bring proof of where you live. Any one of these works: One exception: if you registered by mail, have never voted in Minnesota for a federal office, and the county couldn’t verify your driver’s license, state ID or Social Security number, you’ll need one of these the first time.
You tell an election judge your own name and address. The judge finds you on the roster and you sign it. Your signature swears that you're eligible, registered at that address and haven't already voted. Giving false information there is a felony.
A registered voter from your precinct can vouch for you by signing an oath in front of an election judge.
Register at the address you consider home now: your dorm, apartment or your parents' home. The mail-ballot application lets you use a different mailing address.

Election night: results appear on the Secretary of State's results site after polls close at 8 p.m.
Know someone who votes in Minnesota?
If your mail or early ballot has been accepted, the roster at your polling place shows it and you won't be given another ballot. Mailed yours? Check that it was accepted instead of going to the polls. Voting twice on purpose, or as someone else, is a felony.
Vote both sides. Judges are usually on the back. The amendment is on the front in some counties and on the back in others; your sample ballot shows where. Leaving it blank counts as a No.
You can update your registration at the polls, not only register. Election judges can now vouch only for people they personally know.
Bring anyone you choose, except your boss or a union officer, or ask two election judges. Every polling place has an accessible ballot-marking machine.
We used the Southern Poverty Law Center's 2025 Hate Map (all 1,214 listed groups and chapters), plus militias, QAnon, Jan. 6 charges, election denial and book-ban or anti-LGBTQ campaigns. A tie means something documented and public: an endorsement, a speech, a membership. The SPLC itself was indicted in April 2026 on federal fraud charges over how it paid informants inside extremist groups (NPR). News reports don’t tie the charges to its list of groups, and every tie we report cites the candidate’s own words, records or news coverage.
